Description: A large size late Victorian French four glass clock retailed by W Payne, 163 New Bond Street. London. The white enamel dial signed for the retailer and having Roman numerals. The 8-day movement strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. The pendulum is in the style of an Ellicott compensated pendulum. William Payne is recorded as having prestigious premises at 163 New Bond Street from at least 1816 until 1851.
